Boost BusProject Lifespan: September 2009- April 2011The Boost Bus was our black double decker bus that had been converted into a mobile youth cafe. The bus parked regularly at Deben High School on a Friday and also visited the Felixstowe skate park. The bus enabled us to meet young people where they were at, and over a 4 week period in early 2011, over 70 different young people came 'on board' the bus at Deben High School to be part of the after school club. The club featured: - Large plasma screen with PS3
- XBOX
- Cafe- serving hot chocolate, tea, coffee, waffles and snacks
- Quizzes and games
- A safe space with youth workers to talk to
The Boost Bus also hosted Deben's Christian Union called 'IMPACT'.
The bus required constant maintainance, staffing and funding, and a lot of work went into keeping the bus on the road every week. The bus was eventually decommissioned in April 2011 due to increasing repair costs, and a fixed venue opted for instead. |
